Turtle Rock history

Irvine's Turtle Rock "opened for business" in 1968 with most of the internal neighborhoods and it's 3,850 homes complete by 1985. Turtle Rock was drafted by Irvine planners shortly after the land grand and purchase was made to the University of California to create UCI.

Since the begin, Turtle Rock has been admired by developers and planners. The layout of Turtle Rock with it's cental looping road with homes very carefully arranged as to be harmonious with nature was a break-through in it's time. Turtle rock was one of the five "villages" that orignally formed Irvine.

Turtle Rock and it's 1841 acres boast one of the best locations for those who want quick access to the University of California Irvine. Bordered by University Dr., Shady Canyon, and Culver Dr Turtle Rock lies in the San Joaquin Hills. This location gives many of Turtle Rock's neighborhood terrific views of Irvine and the surround Orange County area.

Irvine's Turtle Rock village is family oriented with parks and other community amenities. Turtle Rock park itself is one of the more desirable of Irvine's parks - frequently you will find people from the other villages visting Turtle Rock park. The village of Turtle Rock with it's circular design, great views, and highly manicured walkways is a terrific place for walking and bike riding.

Turtle Rock neighborhoods feature recreational amenities ranging from tennis courts, sports courts, basketball courts to tot lots and picnic areas.

The village of Turtle Rock offers a variety of communities including; private estates, luxury homes, townhomes, and condominiums. Most neighborhoods within Turtle Rock are not gated. Residents of Turtle Rock like other Irvine villages enjoy fine neighborhoods with well-maintained homes, beautiful streetscapes, and lush vegetation and plantings.

Turtle Rock Shopping

There are many great opportunities for Shopping near Turtle Rock. Within about 5 minutes drive are 4 neighborhood centers; University Park Center, University Center, Campus Plaza, and the Parkview Center.

 

The Irvine Spectrum Center is within a 10 minute drive. With 1,060,778 sq. ft. the Irvine Spectrum center has just about everything! Enjoy a movie at the Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21, shop for some new diggs at Nordstrom, or get something to eat at the Cheesecake Factory or P.F. Changs.

The Market Place and Fashion Island both themed regional shopping destinations also feature big names and big fashion and are both only about 15 minutes away.

Turtle Rock is located in the highly desirable Irvine Unified School District. Currently Turtle Rock Elementary, Bonita Canyon Elementary School, and University High School serve the Irvine's Turtle Rock Village.
