Woodbury history

Woodbury in Irvine (originally known as planning area 9A) was concievied with a traditional grid layout in mind, reminiscent old neighborhoods of character, the calssic American small town. Designer infused the best of the grid design with neighbrohood amenities and architectural character that create refreshing neighborhoods that each have a definte sense of place. Construction in Woobury bega in July 2003 and is heading into it's final phases today. Woodbury when complete will have 13+ neighborhoods and about 4,270 homes.

Woodbury's paseos and pedestrian walks connect it's five districts to inviting squares and gardens - each with its own distintive architectural flavor and design details. Many of the squares have a pool, wading pools for kids, spa, outdoor fireplace, tot lots, activity lawns, picnic area, and barbecues - one of the squares even has a children's maze!

Central to Woodbury is the Commons. The commons is a 30 acre park and gathering area for Woodbury residents. Available at the commons is The Club which features; two junior olympic pools, a resort lagoon pool, children's water garden, sport courts, spa, and large green lawns, among others.

Woodbury Neighborhoods

The village of Woodbury offes a wide variety of private estates, luxury homes, townhomes, and condominiums. Each neighborhood forms smaller "dstricts" that each have their own distinctive architectural style. Within each district homes can be found that feature styles ranging from Tuscan to Cottage, to formal Italian and formal French, and Spanish and Santa Barbara.

Woodbury Shopping

Within walking distance is one of Irvine's latest, greatest, and largest shopping areas; the Woodbury Town Center. The new 450,000 square foot center is home to a Ralphs AND a Trader Joe's grocer. Also at the new Woodbury Town Center is Home Depot, 24 Hour Fitness, Starbucks, and a Walgreens, among others. Dining out at the Town Center is also quite a treat, with numerous restaurants, a 50,000 square foot island with outdoor seating featuring trelises with Bougonvilla flowers and outdoor music.

The Irvine Spectrum Center is within a 10 minute drive. With 1,060,778 sq. ft. the Irvine Spectrum center has just about everything! Enjoy a movie at the Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21, shop for some new diggs at Nordstrom, or get something to eat at the Cheesecake Factory or P.F. Changs.

Also about 10 minutes away is The Market Place, straddling Irvine and Tustin, has over 1.6 million square feet of retail shopping extravanza. The Market Place delivers the brands, stores, and restaurants that West Irvine resident's are looking for.

Woodbury schools

Like many areas of Irvine, Woodbury schools are part of he highly acclaimed Irvine Unified school district. There is a new Elementary school in Woodbury slated to open later this year.
